When life gives me lemons.....is there anyway I can make a skirt out of them???

Hey everyone! Long time no blog! So alot has been happening in my life (as usual). We just started (or should I say re-started) a dance team at my church. In the fall of 2007 a new neighbor moved into the basement of the house next door to ours. We called her Mrs. Lili. Her and her family (her husband and three daughters ages 7-14) started to go to our church with us, which is about 5 minutes from our house. At their old church they led a minstry of dance where they danced to songs with tamborines, arros, streamers, banners, and bells. So they started to lead one at our church. I won't go into detail about how we actually became a dance team and how the church actually let us perform, but I will say that it was not the easiest thing in the world, and God had to prove to us, time and again that He really was in control and that if He wanted something to happen...it would! But unfortunately, just as we finally had a dance ministry going and growing in the Spanish service of our church, Mrs. Lili and her family had to move due to financial reasons. They ended up moving about 2 hours away from our house so dance practice was pretty much not an option. They had to stop going to our church, but have gotten involved with a church close to them. My sisters and I who were apart of the dance team thought that it was all over and had pretty much finally accepted that fact when out of the blue our Children's Sunday School Ministry director asked us to do a dance for their Super Sunday which they would be having on the fifth Sunday of every month.

What a work of God! He brought us three new girls to teach, one for each of me and my two sisters to teach one on one, who have this ministry in their hearts. Mrs. Lili's desire was to have this ministry open to anyone who loves Jesus and desires to praise Him through dance, and this is in my heart too, but of course we can't let just ANYONE get up there and start to break it down on stage. So we've come up with a system that we would let anyone practice with us, but there would be certain regulations they would have to meet before they performed on stage. Each regulation we backed up with an appropriate verse from the Bible. God also gave Mrs. Lili a key verse for the team, Psalm 150:4-6, and we kept that, requiring all of the girls to memorize it, we also have a vision statement (I'll show you that another time), as well as a Preperation Before Dance guide to make sure the girls are dancing ONLY for Jesus and not for themselves or others.

Now we're down to perhaps, the hardest part of this ministry......the outfits. And thus the title of this post! I'll be very frank with ya'll........WE NEED PRAYER!!!!!!!!!!!! The outfits we want would be a white top and a long flowy white skirt that reaches to the ankles, but spreads out like a poodle skirt when you twirl around. This would be our base and we would then make different colorful tunics to go over it for the different dances. Unfortunately we have been having such a hard time actually FINDING a good material to make the skirts out of. We did end up finding exactly what we needed at Wal-Mart for $1.50 a yard, but only enough for two of the girls! All we need is 2 yards more for the last girl, but we just can't find the material at the price we need. We did find it at Hancock Fabrics but for the grand total of $6.00 a yard! And that was on sale! Normally the fabric would go for 9 dollars a yard! So far we had planned that eah of the parents would pay for their own child's outfit, but this is an ENORMOUS amount! Please pray for us as we try to figure out what to do next. I'll be posting pictures of us rehearsing and hopefully I'll be able to record the actual event and post that as well.

Well, gotta go now!
Forever and Always,
-ME
